Introducing The First Prom Queen of Hope:
A Symbol of Resilience and Empowerment
At Sweeping Our Own Porch, we believe that every young person deserves to feel celebrated, supported, and seen. That’s why we are proud to introduce The First Prom Queen of Hope, a title given to the young lady whose prom dress donation marked a monumental moment in our organization’s journey of giving.
This special recognition isn’t just about a dress; it’s about a community coming together to lift each other up in times of need. The First Prom Queen of Hope represents the very essence of our mission: to empower, uplift, and support individuals in overcoming hardship. When life feels uncertain, sometimes all it takes is the kindness and generosity of others to make the difference. This young lady’s story is a testament to the power of giving, and how a simple act can change a life.
Through the help of supporters like you, we are able to offer more than just material assistance, we provide hope, joy, and the opportunity for young people to experience milestones like prom with confidence. But we cannot do this alone.
Your support can help us continue this important work.
By donating to Sweeping Our Own Porch, you help provide resources to individuals and families who need it most. Your contribution makes it possible for us to continue making an impact, one dress, one donation, one person at a time.
Together, we can keep making hope tangible, one story at a time. Join us in supporting the next Prom Queen of Hope and others in their journeys of resilience.
Donate today and help us keep the cycle of giving alive.
Thank you for being a part of this powerful movement. Your generosity is a beacon of hope, and it’s making a world of difference

Looking For A New Book

Sister Souljah returns to her beloved character Winter Santiaga in the captivating and heart-pounding sequel to instant #1 New York Times bestseller Life After Death.
In the video, Sister Soulja’s was asked by the Breakfast Club the Question, “As her character Wnter is realizing the problem of being addicted to the struggle and hustle, what would she (Sister Souljah) want her readers to take away from her new book( Love After Midnight), knowing alot of her readers face the same struggles that Winter is against”? She answered with explaining the poem that started her book titled “ What to remember and what to forget”.

A result of twelve years of quantitative and qualitative research, Dr. DeGruy developed her theory of Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome, publishing her findings in the book "Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome – America’s Legacy of Enduring Injury and Healing”. The book addresses the residual impacts of generations of slavery and opens up the discussion of how the black community can use the strengths we have developed in the past to heal in the present.
